Urban Community Demonstration Farms & Food Garden
The Urban Community Demonstration Farms are developed in conjunction with Urban Small Farm Cluster Groups, Schools, Faith-Based Organizations, Veteran Organizations as greenspace urban food plots or community gardens. These are designed to mitigate food deserts where there is lack of available and reasonably priced fresh fruits and vegetables. One of the positive externalities this project is that community members visit these sites as gardens where the use the viewscape as soothing greenspace therapy. In addition, the Institutes uses these sites for the outreach portion for Agritheraphy for Veterans. The Community Demonstration Farms are also used as educational efforts where children enjoy weekly gardening classes and urban farmers learn innovative and safe gardening techniques. Please visit The Market Place for the location and contact information.
