Climate Smart Agriculture Technology
The Institute seeks to address the resource concern of the denigration of water quality and impact of climatic events that affect agriculture. The Institute addresses these concerns by exposing farmers and ranchers to novel innovation by (1) the introduction of innovative technologies to reduce nitrate and phosphate run-offs from farms and mitigate poorly timed application of pesticide, irrigation, and smart water application, resulting in the aquifers and surrounding water-sheds becoming less polluted; (2) efficient use of compost and farm manure, and cost effective irrigations and (3) adoption of innovative solar powered systems for crop irrigation and water for livestock. The implementation model provides environmentally sound and smart technologies, which are replicable, adaptable and scalable on the targeted small farms and rural communities.
