Cooperative, Small Business,
Rural Enterprise Development (CSBRED)
Cooperatives, Rural Small Businesses and Microenterprises are some of the vehicles the Institute has identified as improving the livelihoods of individuals in developing and operating their own businesses in rural areas. Several business structures have been used; however, the Institute sees Cooperative Corporation as a model to grow business ownership and community investment.
There are several pros and cons, but if implemented correctly like any business the benefits can be extremely rewarding. In the past four decades, professionals at the Institute have worked in developing and supporting cooperatives in both developed and developing countries. As practitioners we are guiding these interested entities in establishing and operating their own businesses. The Institute works with strategic partners in providing development and business planning assistance, risk management, marketing and operational management support.
