02 - Veterans & Beginning Farmers
The program is open to all US Veterans & Beginning Farmers & Ranchers in the coverage region. Whether it’s land preparation activities, planting, maintenance, harvesting, or vaccination of animals, there are daily activities on the farm that must run smoothly. As a farmer, you must plan and know these activities. The program teaches these skills and apply the teaching method
of learning by doing. Relatives of Veterans currently participating in the program are eligible to participate upon approval.
03 - This is a 4-part PROGRAM
04 - Farm Instructional Training
Module 1. Introduction to Farming - Business Planning (AgVet); Resources for Your Farm and Business -Working with USDA and Other Agencies (AgVet); and other AgVet classes.
Module 2. Acquiring Skills and Knowledge - Farming Skills Including Producing Crops and Livestock; Certification, Compliance, and Record Keeping (AgVet); and Discovering Your Local Market, and Opportunities (AgVet).
Module 3. Farm Operations Skills - Using the learning by doing approach. These farm operation skills can include planting, irrigation, pest management, animal husbandry, application for climate-smart agricultural technology, harvesting, and distribution.

You get:
- An attendance stipend of $750/monthly for 6 months
- An Enrollment Incentive Program (EIP) is $75 for each Veteran you refer to the AgVet Program.
- Special mini-grants for your Farm Operation.

- Registration - on-line or by phone
- Orientation - 2 hours on-line
- Training - weekly 15 hours on-farm learning by doing
- Graduation - in person graduation ceremony the last Saturday in July
