Supporting Beginning Farmers: How NSI Helps Launch New Agribusinesses

10/6/2025

Picture
Starting a farm or agribusiness can feel overwhelming. New farmers often face barriers such as limited access to land, challenges in securing financing, and gaps in technical knowledge. At NSI, we believe that every aspiring farmer deserves a clear pathway to success, no matter their starting point.

Our Beginning Farmers & Women, Girls, and Youth Initiative and the Business and Farm Apprenticeship & Mentorship Program are designed to give new entrants the skills, tools, and connections they need. Through mentorship and hands-on training, beginning farmers learn not only how to grow crops or raise animals but also how to run a sustainable and profitable business.

Financing is another hurdle for many. While traditional loans often require years of records or large acreages, NSI helps farmers access microloans, USDA programs, and other financial resources tailored to small operations. We guide applicants through every step—explaining requirements, assisting with documentation, and ensuring applications are submitted correctly and on time.

For anyone just starting out, the most important first step is to connect with the right support network. NSI provides that network, combining technical training, business guidance, and access to resources that help transform a dream into a viable enterprise.

If you’re ready to take the first step toward farming success, NSI is here to walk alongside you.
