No Farm Too Small — USDA’s Got Your Back

7/28/2025

Think USDA programs are just for mega-acre operations and big-time commodity growers?

We’re here to tell you that, that is completely untrue. Let’s rewrite that script and get into the nitty gritty.

Whether you’re growing tomatoes on a quarter acre, tending herbs on your rooftop, or raising backyard goats for the first time, there’s a USDA program with your name on it.

Here’s what you need to know:
  • Microloans (up to $50k) – These are designed specifically for new and beginning farmers. Flexible requirements. No need for a 10-year plan or 1,000 acres.
  • BFRDP (Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program) – Training, technical support, and real mentorship to help you go from dreamer to doer.
  • EQIP – Environmental funding for composting, soil improvement, water conservation, and other sustainable farming practices — even on small plots!

And the best part? NSI will help you actually apply for these. We’ll explain what qualifies, how to prepare your application, and even help you package it all up so it doesn’t get tossed in the "we’ll get to it later" pile.
You don’t need a massive farm to make a massive impact. Contact NSI and we’ll help you get set up with the loan you need for your farming enterprise.
